What is a CR2 File?
The CR2 file format is a raw image based on the TIFF file format. Some Canon digital cameras, such as the EOS 1D Mark IV, create these. CR2 files contain uncompressed, raw data with high quality and is typically used by professional photographers.
This format has now been overtaken by the CR3 format, which is an iteration of the CR2 format. However, CR2 is still being used today by photographer who has cameras still using this format to capture images.
