What is EXR File?
A file having the .EXR extension is a High Dynamic-Range (HDR) raster image file that supports multi-layer images, supports 16-bit and 32-bit pixels, and supports both lossy and lossless compression. These files are used to store high-quality images which can then be used by photo editing and visual effects software.
The OpenEXR Image format was first released to the public in 2003 as an open-source format. It has since then received several iterations in an attempt to make it better.
