What is a CAF File?
A CAF file is an audio file that contains text annotations, markers, channel layout information, audio data, and other information. This format is based on Apple’s Core Audio technology and is very much similar to .AIFF and .WAVE formats. However, unlike those, a .CAF file supports any number of channels and does not have a 4GB size limit.
The CAF file structure consists of several data chunks that are preceded by a file header that contains details about the file type and CAF version. One is the “Audio Data” chunk, which contains the audio data, and the other is the “Audio Description” chunk, which contains details on the audio data format.
